Kim Walmsley

Kim Walmsley is a proud First Nations artist of Mununjali and Wiradjuri heritage, based in the Toowoomba region. Her work celebrates culture, connection to country, and community storytelling, bringing together traditional influences and contemporary art. Kim paints, sculpts, and creates large-scale public artworks, often collaborating with local communities to share culture, empower others, and foster understanding.

Kim’s art features prominently across Toowoomba and is a highlight of our public art journeys. Notable works include “Balamie” at Cathro Park, an Indigenous mural at the back of Momentum Mental Health on Baty Lane, a vibrant mural on Gallery Lane, and her stunning silo art on ANZAC Ave. She also contributed to the Cultural Wall on Dent Street, further enriching the city’s public spaces. Indoors, her work can be seen at Toowoomba Hospital, where her colourful carpet snake artwork brightens the area outside the renal unit. Through her art, Kim continues to share stories of resilience, identity, and culture with the wider community.
